what is something that you have not enjoyed not about being back ?

I've done it before actually

I'm not as tall as you but I have done it before yeah

    cry for the spicy food

it's too humid it's too hot

you have the same climate, very humid and very hot

people staring at me because I am foreign

    foreign blonde hair blue eyes

that's very popular here

I mean I know it's weird

sometimes people aren't very familiar with foreigners walking around and things like that.

the lack of trash cans, I am used to seeing like piles of trash or trash cans 골목마다 쓰레기가 쌓여있는 풍경이 like at every single like corners.

yeah, you have to like kind of carry your trash until you find one,

it's hard to communicate not a lot of people know here english.

A little bit difficult with communication barrier and things like that

From now, I don't have any deception( 속임, 사기, 기만)

From the security in the airport to arriving in Seoul to check in the hotll

it does cost a lot, that's right

we paid a bit more to get extra legroom

overall I think it's three and a half thousand

is that for toghther or

    Both of us

can I ask how much was the ticket from London to Korea?

it was like a thousand pounds

do you think that's a lot

do you think it's worth it

    I think it's worth it

is that a return ticket ,표는 왕복인가요

    it is a return ticket

so, it is quite expensive but worth it

it is the other side of the world 지구 반대편이기도 하고

what do you think about that?

do you think that was a good price or

it was more than last year, 작년보다 더 비싸졌어요

it is a lot more expensive than the past

that's right

but still worth it?

    yeah sure

we're gonna play a game before we go away

we are gonna play a game to help you win some prizes

where in canada are you from?

how long have you been in korea for?

this time, it's my fifth time in korea.

    this is second week.

so, you've been here five times and this is your second week.

    Now it's second week,

    and to count 총기간을 세자면

I've been in Korea in total about a year.

all just traveling

No I had business trip here

Ah, business trip as well

So, then you've been in korea maybe for about a year

do you know how to say cheers in Korean?

    jjan?

Ah, she knows, do you speak Korean?

    ya,

Oh, she speaks korean.

All right, let's do a Jjan together.

what do you think about it?

it's really subtle,

The alcohol, it's not very present.

Yeah, it's not like a super alcoholic taste

    Yeah, It's not strong

And what about the apple?

Can you tell me about the apple a little bit?

Yeah, you can definitely taste the apple.

You can taste the apple but it doesn't

Usually when you have apple liquor

this one is not super sweet

It's kind of very.. Like you said, subtle

Looking at the reactions, not bad?

    not bad

Tell me about it 의견을 말씀해 주세요

It's smooth, It goes down pretty easily

It has a nice little flavor to it  좋은 향이 있어요

Strong?

    Don't know It's too smooth I can't tell

Too smooth you can't tell

If you can guess the percentage what do you think it would be? percentage of alcohol

    You're about this than me 이건 네가 더 잘 알 것 같은데

    9?

    seems like 20

Oh perfect, it's 20

She does know 친구가 절말로 잘 아시네요

    best friend

Too close yeah weirdly close,

what do you think about the weather today?

    It's beautiful Really nice.

    Yeah, Beautiful and sunny

    it's not like Singapore

it's like 40 degrees almost in Singapore

Okay, so you were in Singapore before coming to Korea right?

    Yeah, it was super hot

what were you expecting the weather to be like in Korea?

Better than Finland, but colder than Singapore, but it's really good.

So, a good middle ground between Singapore and Finland

Did you have any expectations about the weather?

to be warmer 더 따뜻할 줄 알았어요

You thought it would be a little bit hotter?

no, no, not hotter than it is, but warmer than in Finland

because in Finland we still has some snow on the ground.

Before you coming to Korea, you still had some snow

Oh, right, amazing, right okay,

and so, you had these expectations of it being warmer

how has the weather been in five days and three days?

Has it been good weather so far?

Yeah, it was a bit cold earlier

like five days ago because it was a bit like 10-ish degrees.

and nights are still really cold,

but today, much better, right?

How about it for you for the past three days?

the weather's been okay?

Yeah, I think it's been great

because it's too hot in Singapore

    so it's really good here

you can go out with a t-shirt or with a jacket

Oh, right, in Korea you mean?

You can wear a jacket and a t-shirt and you can take it off whatever

comfortable weather, yeah, right cool 맞아요 좋아요

I think because we knew that it was coming out of winter

we knew that it would still be cold

I was expecting it to be like sunny the whole time

I don't think you did though

I was expecting it to be like nice but I wasn't expecting like, yeah, the sun

It was also raining raining on our very first day

Oh, so, when you arrived it was raining?

yeah and I wasn't expecting it 네 저는 예상하지 못했어요

Okay and how did you feel about arriving in rain?

Is this your first time in Korea?

it is our first time.  yeah

    I thought it would be

I thought it was very similar to Melbourne, Australia

and did you prepare your like clothes and stuff for specific weather? or how did you do your packing for Korea?

oh, I am an overpacker so I pack for all weathers

okay, so you're pretty much prepared for whatever came

yeah we did also look at it before we came as well

    yeah look at the weather

overall you think the weather's been a good experience for you here in Korea?

    oh stunning stunning

there's no humidity so I'm happy personally

so is Brisbane quite a humid place?

    yeah, very sticky

How satisfied they have been?

Is Austin the capital of the state? or the biggest city? what is it?

when people say Texas, they always think of like Austin or Dallas.

what is the first thing that you think of when you think of Korea?

easy one, I would say, k-pop

I don't watch it, but Gangnam Style

so, k-pop is the first thing that you think of.

Gangnam style, was that the first ever k-pop that you heard of?

yeah, in France, it was the first big thing about the k-pop.

do you like k-pop?

not, especially, but I think now I'm here and it's getting on me 점점 마음에 들어요

you are starting to become a fan

    --------------------------

    Food

what's your favorite Korean food?

    Tteokbokki

why is the food the first thing?

what is it about the food that you like?

because who doesn't like food?

I like different flavors, I feel like there's different flavor profiles here compared to America, like I'm going to say it wrong, but the Gochujang paste한국은 맛의 종류가 다른 것 같아요, 미국과 비교하여, 발음을 잘못할 수도 있지만 고추장 같은 거요

No, that's good pronunciation

    super good, I love it

can you cook yourself?

I know how to make Tteokbokki

You know how to make Tteokbokki?

Do you make Tteokbokki in America?

I make it at home all the time 집에서 자주 만들어 먹어요

And have you tried Tteokbokki here yet?

    I was about to,

    Right over there 바로 저기서요

So, you haven't tried it yet,

    no, not here

So, you are going to try in a second.

I hope you can compare your version of Tteokbokki.

You can maybe learn a little bit

    yeah

fantastic

 --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Food

Why food?

    the food is amazing

Okay, well you're a chef.

what is it that you enjoy about Korean food as a chef?

    spiciness

The spiciness, right, okay.

There are lots of spice like controversies like a lot of spiciness

Different types of spices

Spiciness here is, it's addictive

Right, okay, cool,

=============================

What's been your favorite thing? so far what's been the best thing for you?

I feel like how helpful the people are,

feel like that 문장

Even though, like, we're at the train station, we are trying to figure out where to go,

someone instantly stopped and was like, where are you going?

And they told us which line to take,

Did he work there?

No, it was just, like, a random person who just came up to us,

and that happened, like, a couple of times,

when we were, like, walking somewhere

or someone will, like, make a recommendation for you

I feel like everyone is just very welcoming

and, like, willing to help you here

    and it's just very nice

Right, okay, so they properly helped you out

Did you look confused about the train?

    Probably

So I was looking at the map for a while

and was like, let me help them

very cook,

So, definitely people's generosity so far has been your favorite thing.

    yes

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Nightclubs

You like them?

    Nightclub, it's awesome.

The nightclub have been good?

    And it's very cheap.

We compare to, you know and France

The alcohol, the food, all of that, it's very cheap.

The nightclubs here are pretty good.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The helpfulness of everyone

Oh, really, everyone's been very helpful?

    Yes,

Has there been any situation where somebody's helped you?

Yes, when we were first getting off the subway, we couldn't figure out how to get out

Actually, we were stuck in there,

So, someone came up to us and was like

You know, you go that way

And even though there was like a language barrier

I think they can, like, see our struggle,

So then they are like they're just very willing to help

They were willing to help

So in America, would that happen?

    No

No, why not at all?

I think people keep to themselves in America very much.

People are, like, more friendly here.

==========================================

Alright and my final question for you

So far your time in Korea, from zero being bad and 10 being perfect

What score would you give Korea as a country to travel to?

    nine I would say 9점요

    nine out of ten

    eight or nine

Okay, cool

Why not ten?

Nine is very high, it's very good, but why not ten?

Not 10, because I think it might be different for some people for, like, their food preferences,

If you are vegetarian or vegan, it's going to be a bit difficult for you

Ah, are you a vegetarian?

    I'm not 저는 아니긴 한데

I eat meat, but I don't like any seafood.

Okay, and there is lots of seafood here

Sometimes it's hard to find

especially if there is also like seafood, hidden in the food

    Yeah, exactly

Like you order something and then suddenly there is a shrimp or seaweed.

Oh, you don't like seaweed?

    No, I don't

Even bokkeumbap, if you have the fried rice, they put seaweed on it sometimes, right

I have to take it off 저는 빼야 해요

Oh, no

============================================

    10 out of 10

If I have to go home tomorrow, I love it

wow, perfect, 10 out of 10

I feel like it's been it's been amazing being here,

Have you ever been to another country that is also 10 out of 10?

I haven't even left the U.S

This is my first time leaving the U.S

and honestly, this is the one spot I wanted to go, so I am very happy.

Because I had planned a trip to Italy before

but we didn't end up going

So I was like, I have to go on this trip

So, so far it's 10 out of 10?

    10 out of 10

Are you pretty confident that for your 3 weeks here it's going to stay at 10?

Absolutely, especially since we are travelling around

We're doing like our first week in Seoul,

Then we are going down to Busan, we are also going to Jinju, and then we're coming back to Seoul

Jinju why Jinju?

Everyone says it's like the Hawaii of Korea

Do you mean jeju?

    Probably

There are two places, there is Jinju and Jeju

============================================

It's better than I expected in Seoul.

Yeah, I would say solid 9 out of 10

Oh, solid 9 out of 10

Okayh, so not 10 exactly, but solid 9 out of 10

Yeah, because I still have some days left

Might be at the end, it will be 10

So, you think maybe by the end of your trip it will move up to 10

Before you came, what score did you kind of expect?

I was expecting, it's hard to tell the score but I would say 6 or 7

SO, It's better than you expected

Yes, better than expectation for sure

===========================================

One more thing for you guys to do before you leave

like traditional fermented rice wine

would you like to try some?

which one do you like more?

That was way better than I expected

What were you expecting?

I was expecting it to be kind of more sour

and like when it hits the back of your throat it burns

but it's very sweet and it doesn't burn at all

    It goes down very smoothly

and I feel like it doesn't even taste like alcohol

Well, that's dangerous

Can you taste the strawberries?

You can, I feel like that's what the sweetness is

You can taste like how the strawberry with the sweetness and a little bit of the rice with it.

Perfect okay, cool

You like

Oh, she loves it

===================================================

what flavors can you get here?

    strawberry, light.

================================================

Play and then you win a prize

a spin-the-wheel game

if you get the shot glasses 작은 유리잔

you will win two of our sponsored shot glasses

======================================================================================================================

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdHkZLH4mQg

She had the sound of the '캬"

Did you hear that? yeah, I heard it

What does that sound mean then, ?

    it's good

That's the sound of enjoyment

Do you actually quite like it?

    yes

What other tastes can you feel?

    a lot of different things

it's kind of sweet, kind of, you know

it's very smooth, I would think

Yeah, it is quite smooth, right? amazing

==========================================================

    oh, that's delicious

let me take a picture of that

You actually do like it?

    yeqah, it's actually good

definitely, you can take a photo of it later

I can definitely not tell it's 12%

Right, it doesn't taste like it at all, right.?

very easy to dring, very smooth, unique

on a vegetable patch my parents spoiled the surprise

You have it folks
